Your quick reference guide to materials and finishes

Open coil mattresses They contain a fantastic all-round spring system that’s ideal for kids’ and adult beds alike.
Continuous spring mattresses They are lump-free, giving you a smooth, responsive feel.
Trizone mattresses These offer more support where you need it most – in the middle of the bed.
Pocket sprung mattresses They contain individual springs held in place by fabric pockets, making them an extremely comfortable and supportive mattress.
Latex mattresses They are made from natural rubber that quickly recovers its shape. It’s also naturally hypoallergenic, so it’s ideal if you suffer from allergies or asthma.
Memory foam mattresses These are made from a clever material that moulds perfectly to your body, relieving pressure points and helping prevent restlessness.
Sprung mattresses They are the most popular kind of mattress, with traditional metal springs inside offering comfortable, effective support. Various types of sprung mattress are available – in general the more springs they contain, the firmer the support.
Micro quilting mattresses They feature a stitched patterned surface for extra comfort.
Deep quilting mattresses The mattresses offer an even more comfortable night’s sleep thanks to deeper layers of quilting.
Cushion top mattresses These have padded fibres woven into the top of the mattress for a sumptuously soft feel.
Pillow top mattresses They have an additional layer of padded fibres on the top of the mattress for the ultimate in luxurious softness.
Tufted mattresses They feel firmer, thanks to tufting from the top through to the bottom of the mattress that holds all the fibres in place.
Solid wood These have a natural appearance. With knots, grains and slight variations in colour, no two pieces will look exactly the same – so you’ll get something really unique.
Real wood finish That means the furniture has been finished with thin layers of real wood. It’ll still look like solid wood, but it’ll be lighter in weight and less expensive to buy.
Wood effect finish It means the furniture has the look and feel of real wood, but with a more consistent colour and appearance, making it easier for you to create a totally coordinated look.
Leather effect That means your furniture is finished with a man-made material that gives a leather look and feel at a great-value price.
Chenille It is textured, and luxuriously soft. Great on big comfy sofas.
Suede effect furniture This is a great value way to get the look and feel of suede.
Self-assembly These items come flat packed for you to assemble at home.  For some items, more than one person will be needed for assembly.
