Before you start

There are a few things to think about before you invest in a riser recliner chair.

How much space do you have?

These chairs can take up quite a bit of room, especially when reclined so you'll need to measure your space carefully. Don't forget that your chair will need to be close enough to plug into a power source.

Why do you need your chair?

A rise and recline chair can help if you have back problems by taking the strain out of getting in and out of your chair, or they can help your circulation by elevating your legs. Consider consulting your doctor first.

Is there easy access to get it to your chosen room?

Make sure the chair you choose will fit through your doorway and into your chosen room. All our chairs are supplied assembled so it will be ready to use when it arrives.

Could you/should you sleep in it?

As a general rule, riser recliner chairs aren't designed for sleeping for long periods of time, but you can definitely get comfortable enough for an afternoon snooze.

What are the features to look out for?

Here are some helpful features to look out for when picking your riser recline chair.

Battery Back Up System

This is a key safety feature for any rise and recline chair. It means that in the event of a power cut, the chair can still be raised and lowered, so you won't be left stranded if there's a power cut in your home.

Leather or upholstered

This really comes down to personal preference. Leather is easy to clean and doesn't harbour dust, allergens or pet dander. Upholstered chairs may offer a wider choice in colour or patterns, are usually less expensive and can offer a softer texture than leather.

Side Pocket

If you're having difficulty getting up and down, then a side pocket can keep things like books and magazines to hand. And it means you can always keep the remote control for your chair within arm's reach.

Built in safety key

Look out for controllers which feature a built-in safety key. This prevents accidental movement and entrapment.

Safety tips

If your chair doesn't have a built in anti-entrapment device, make sure that small pets and young children are safely out of the way to prevent trapping little fingers or tails in the mechanism.

Once your chair is up and running, it's wise to regularly check that any wires and cables are safely out of the way and won't be caught up in the folding mechanism.

Heated Accessories

A hot water bottle or heat mat can work wonders to soothe aches and pains, providing therapeutic benefits.

These chairs are not available to collect from store. Delivery is free though and you'll receive your chair within 7-14 days of placing your order. Much like other upholstery items, these chairs take a little longer than smaller items, but that allows plenty of time to make space for your new investment.
