Sleek and versatile
I was given this product by Panasonic as part of the Panasonic Reviewer programme. Out of the box this TV is very straightforward to put together (attaching the legs requires a two person lift), and offers great connectivity with 3 HDMI ports, 2 USB, the usual AV connectors and an Ethernet port for getting online. The TV looks great, a very slim and sleek design. It is all black with a very minimal frame around the edge of the screen, about 5mm on the top and sides, 15mm on the bottom, and two thin legs. The first time you turn it on the TV runs through an initial set-up wizard that quickly gets all the main features up and running and along with all the freeview channels, I had no trouble linking my Netflix and Amazon Prime accounts over WiFi. I have streamed a 4K UHD program over WiFi through Amazon Prime and the picture quality was superb. Clear crisp images, deep blacks and vibrant colours. The sound quality was good and delving a little into the menu options revealed various set-up profiles such as 'stadium' for added punch, or 'speech' which helps to even out the volume between loud action scenes and quieter moments of talking, particularly useful for watching in the evening when the kids have gone to bed. There are also custom options available. Streaming straight to the TV over WiFi instead of having to go through other devices makes viewing streaming services so much quicker and easier to use, rather than faffing with multiple controllers and additional devices cluttering under the TV and it works really well. The TV also has an impressive A+ energy efficiency rating.
Hi Alan, there is a button on the remote to activate or deactivate the subtitles. This will work with terrestrial TV only. If you use a receiver box like a Sky or Freesat, Virgin Media etc, you'll need to activate subtitles using that- the TV doesn't control them. If using the apps on the TV (Netflix, BBC iPlayer etc) the subtitles are activated by choosing on screen options. Hope this helps, thanks for using Argos Q+A.
