This is often attributed to the levels of chlorine in tap water ( which can vary over time), sadly it not something that can be controlled as chlorine is added to water to keep it safe to drink.
The general advice offered (which is noted on the which? website) is to keep your tap water in a clean, covered jug in the fridge for a couple of hours to allow excess chlorine to dissipate or trying filtered water.
Hope this helps & thank you for using Argos Q&A.
Rust in a kettle is very unusual and it’s not completely clear from your question which part of the kettle you mean. If it’s the element, then the problem may possibly be limescale. Limescale from hard water is usually white, but traces of other minerals or metals can colour the limescale orange or brown which may appear to look like rust. Firstly we would suggest descaling your kettle using a proprietary descaling product, following the manufacturer’s instructions. If the problem persists then please contact our customer services team for more help on 0800 525089.
I hope this helps you.
Thank you for the question.
Yes, it is under the handle and hardly visible, very disappointing. The manual shows the water level on the side.
