Dyson V16 Piston Animal Cordless Vacuum Cleaner

Great features-except one!

I bought my new Dyson two weeks ago and it cleans really well. I love the green light as it shows the dog hair on flat surfaces really well. The only downside is the curved cleaning head. My old Dyson went under all my furniture but the hump on the head means I can’t clean underneath furniture as I used to.

Disappointed

For the price I am disappointed in its power and suction. Having 2 long haired cats brings with them the need to hoover regularly. I am finding it does not clear as expected. Handy having a connected app to control some elements

Great Features!

This vacuum is much better than my V11 I bought five years ago. The dust capacity is much better, I don’t have to put my hand inside it to get all the fluff and hair out! The suction is great it gets all the hairs up in one go not like the V11 that just used to spread around the carpet and not pick it up. The V16 is heavier and the runtime is much better! The only thing I don’t like about V16 is the heaviness of it, apart from that I am really pleased with it.

I’ve owned three Dyson machines over the years, starting with the original plug-in models, so I feel I’m in a reasonable position to compare them. Unfortunately, this latest model feels like a step backwards in several areas. The battery life doesn’t seem as good as previous models, and I’m also finding the suction noticeably weaker than I’ve experienced with earlier Dysons. Aesthetically, it’s also become unnecessarily busy. There are so many different colours and finishes on the machine that, while this is obviously subjective, I don’t find it particularly pleasing to look at. The design of the bin is another frustration. There’s now a pipe/protruding section inside the end of the unit which makes emptying it into a normal household bin far more awkward. When you open it, the debris can hit the side of the bin rather than simply dropping out as it did with the older designs. The removal of the trigger is probably my biggest annoyance. Previous models allowed you to simply hold the trigger while vacuuming and release it when you stopped. Now there’s a button on top which means manually switching the machine on and off. It sounds like a small change, but in actual use it’s much more fiddly and less intuitive. Having owned three Dyson machines, I expected the latest generation to feel like a genuine improvement. Instead, I find several of the design changes have made the machine less convenient to use, while the performance doesn’t seem to match the older models. For the price Dyson charges, I expected better.

Game change for 100% pick up of pet hair

I have used Dyson for many many years, I have tried two other leading vacumn manufacturers but there is no way to match a Dyson however I have just moved onto the V16 Piston Animal Cordless and I am blown away by its capacity to clean micro dust elements, pet hair and debris. The facility to light up the area to vacumn is so powerful, I tend to hoover once a day as I have a pet to sheds hair occasionally, however I cannot believe how much dust and hair I am not seeing thanks to the light , it makes me realise that what I thought was immaculate before maybe was not, so I love now that I know 100% I am picking up all loose hair etc. The machine is much more robust than previous machines, quality of vacumn feels stronger and the tools are much more robust too. The head is very good at manoeuvrability and the suction second to none - and thats only on the standard auto mode, on boost its another level. When I thought my last Dyson was good, this version is amazing !

Extremely disappointing

Very disappointed. Would give zero stars if I could. Had to return it. Constantly says it's blocked when it isn't, and cuts out. Far too sensitive. Why do I need to know what size dust particles are being suctioned?! I just want it to clean. For this price I expected better reliability.

Amazing vacuum, I love this vacuum cleaner because it is so powerful and light. It has an amazing runtime and suction is the most powerful I’ve had. The filtration is great and when I do the maintenance it all comes apart so easily to keep it super clean I will always buy Dyson products because they’re simply the best.
