Very sharp and quite fast lens with great IS
Another L lens in my collection. Macro mode is only x0.7 but if you not a macro shooter I'd does do the job perfectly well. IS is amazing. Now my hands are really steady. Recomended to everyone who wants to have a sharp pictures straight from f4.
Best performance for FF
An excellent lens but its performance, though still good, is crippled on an aps-c body. It is designed for full frame and should be used as such. Otherwise you're spending significant money for little reward. For a technical assessment of EF lenses on an aps-c body search for Tony Northrop on YouTube.
Outstanding Objective, great value
This is my first purchase of a Canon L lens, I currently own many Canon lenses, some for APS-C cameras and some that will fit a full frame body, I have recently purchased my first full frame camera and although I have many lenses I didn’t have a wide angle telephoto that would fit, so I took the decision to purchase the Canon 24-70 F4 , and I am so glad I did, build quality is excellent, image quality is outstanding, focus is fast and I can shoot macro, ok it’s not life size macro but 0.7x is pretty respectable and great if you just need to get that shot without struggling to change to your macro, that even if you have it with you.. Would I recommend this objective, definitely yes, would I part with it, definitely no. Am I going to buy any more L lenses, oh yes I am. I can see me changing all my objectives to L lenses in time

Thanks for using Argos Q&A.

The answer provided is accurate, and I can confirm that the lens is a nice bit of kit.
However, if you’re planning on moving on to a full frame in the near future it’s a great addition which comes with a nice surprise. It seems that Canon have designed the EF lenses (the expensive ones with a red ring) in such a way that they fit the cheaper Canon EF-S bodies. It means my wife can practice with the cheaper camera whilst having access to the EF lenses and EF-S.
If you use an EF lens in a half frame camera you need to multiply the indicated focus number, by a factor of 1.6, such that an indicated 100mm on the lens looks like a 160mm in the camera.
Hope it helps and good luck with your photography.

Our supplier has advised: Yes it is compatible and would be a very good choice if you look to upgrade to a full frame camera in the future.
