Easy to set up and control by the app, this device massively extends your broadband.
Purchased two, great bits of kit.
Needed two for the style and size of our house. Easy to setup the second one piggybacks the first one. I've have no complaints from the online gamers and the wife is having no problems with her connection.
So many types/models to choose from, I knew whatever I chose it would be a gamble as to whether it would perform as others had or had not experienced judging by the reviews as the wifi 'barrier' in every house is different. For me though, it does the job, easy to setup, easy to connect to and no moans from anyone upstairs now, working on both 2g and 5g networks connected to Talk Talk UFO (Ultra Fibre Optic). Neat bit of kit, well done TP-Link.
I can confirm that you do not need a phone application. Simply connect this to your device and WiFi and this will work.
I hope this helps :)

Yes, you can, provided that your phone has hotspot functionality that creates a WiFi network. You could then configure the extender to connect to your smartphone's WiFi network.
