Excellent Streaming Upgrade
I purchased the Google TV Streamer 4K to replace an older streaming device, and it has exceeded my expectations. Reluctant buy, turned out perfect
Got this to replace a fire stick that has been wildly infuriating me for months. The fire stick has a habit of freaking out, It is very annoying when you're Netflix show takes a dramatic turn and the fire stick has a meltdown and randomly loads ITVX. It has everything the fire stick does and more. Doesn't require Proton to function and doesn't appear to get lost in a RAM cycle of doom. . With better software, RAM and 3× the harddrive all of those problems ended. I can find the remote with my phone and I can use my phone to navigate the box. Even the microphone function works better. And it's connected to the Google home app. So it's easily set up. The kids were blown away when their pictures started cycling on the TV. I was worried that it wasn't going to do all the things I need it for but it's so intuitive everything I want is right at my finger tips. Quick navigation, no lagging, it even seems to connect to the broadband more reliably. I think I can even connect individual family members to the device through their phones, although I have not yet tried that. It just ended up being exactly what I needed it to be.

I bought the Google TV Streamer because my TV was struggling with Wi‑Fi connectivity. A great bonus feature is the remote control chime, which helps you find it if it goes missing. Overall, while it costs more, the performance, smart home integration and thoughtful features make it a great choice—especially for Google users.

4K streamer - good picture quality
Happy with the tv streamer does need a 4K compatible HDMI cable to work properly. Set up was a faff as Google home would not recognise it so set up was longer than usual.

Absolutely tremendous bit of equipment
I bought this specifically to run my nest cameras through so that I could view them on my television.. it works perfectly well and is a great addition to my home. The picture quality is superb and I'm very pleased with my purchase. Regarding the way that it organises the apps etc etc it's fantastic

You can do all that by making yourself a developer. Which takes seconds. That probably is against the terms and conditions none of us read but Google didnt make it super easy to do by accident.
You can still definitely side load on there as you can with the firestick
