Tefal replacement
Purchased to replace an old, top-line Tefal that coughed and splattered it's last. Tefal vs. Philips, Philips won based upon reviews and feel/looks in the shop. So much lighter and more powerful in use. Major bonus in the ability to iron Denim then silk/synthetic without have to wait. No more pre-sorting garments before ironing. Great buy to date. Just hope it lasts as long as the Tefal did.

Great steam generator
Very good iron. Bought this to replace an older Phillips steam generator and I'm very happy. It glides effortlessly and it just the right temperature.

Great for those with wrist weakness and pain
A good iron, that requires little wrist action and has a lovely smooth glide, excellent in enabling ironing to not be as painful in my wrist. It is a little heavy, but slides so well that don’t notice the weight, no pressing down is required to get stubborn creases out. It is very noisy, but not a problem in performance. Tank of water lasts a family of 3s weekly ironing, including 10 school uniforms.

Great Iron. Lightweight. Very easy to use.
Glides over fabric, certainty does a great job. Large water tank. Seems strange to not change the tempreture but I'll get used to it. It's very lightweight certainly compared to my previous similar style iron. Very pleased with it and would definitely recommend.

Very neat!
Like this iron. Bought to replace one I’d had for 13 years which seemed massive in comparison. Would have given five stars but I am finding it hard to get used to not being able to rest it on its heel when moving garments to iron another part or between items.

Excellent Steam
This is the second one from Philips, and they have both been excellent. Steady bursts of steam without soaking the clothes. My first one eventually gave up on me and I tried other makes but none compared to Philips, so I stuck with this make while it was on offer at Argos. Very good buy! The only downside is Philips customer service. They agreed to mend my first one but it was no better when they returned it to me and I think they just cleaned it, worked for a couple of days and then gave up producing steam. The new design seems much better but the user manual is almost useless. Very small diagrams instead of instructions, difficult when you’re short sighted.

1.6m steam supply cord.
Thanks for using Q&A.
Hello Paddy.
Philips Series 6000 PSG6026/20 Steam Generator Iron:
The iron is suitable for use with tap water, so you do not need to use deionised or distilled water.
For hard water areas, you may want to 50/50 mix tap water with distilled water. Please note: descaling your Philips Steam Generator iron every 1-2 months can prevent brown stains, brown water and leaking. Regular cleaning keep steam output at its highest and extends the lifetime of your appliance.
Thank you for using Q&A.
Hello Sheila,
I can advise the following for the Philips Series 6000 PSG6026/20 Steam Generator Iron:
You wouldn't mix, one or the other, tap water would decrease the life of the machine due to the limescale and other hard metals within the water.
Thanks for using Q & A.
