Summer Football Survival Guide
Are you dreading the big kick off? Is your favourite team out of the tournament? Or just not a fan of the beautiful game? Make it through every 90 minutes with our hints and tips on how to survive each match.
Block out the chants
With a pair of noise-cancelling headphones you can block out the football entirely. Whether it's music, podcasts, audiobooks or streaming your favourite shows, you won't even notice the screams of joy and dismay that are happening next to you.
Get away from it all
90 minutes can seem like a lifetime if your team has been knocked out, or you aren't a football fan. Forget about the sporting stress and take a trip out somewhere else. Spa days, thrill-seeking adventures and afternoon tea experiences are sure to allow you an enjoyable escape beyond the final whistle.
Prepare your entertainment
If you're going to survive a whole month, or more, of football, you'll need plenty of other stuff to do. Maybe it's the best time to start the box-set you've been putting off, or pick up a kindle for some reading. You could even take yourself to another world with a games console or virtual reality headset.
Take back the TV
Football isn't everything, right? Kick the football fan into another room and enjoy your favourite shows instead. With a range of tablets and TVs perfect for bedrooms and kitchens, there's no reason why the football should take centre stage.
Make it a party
Reduce the football to background noise with some party games. Get your friends and family round, get the food and drink flowing and the big game might be forgotten altogether.
Well you know what they say - if you can't beat them, join them. And if all else fails, try some of these go to football phrases: 'That's a shocking miss', 'Referee!' and 'He couldn't hit a barn door with a banjo'.
