What to take to uni
Most universities will give you a uni packing list if you’re moving to halls, but you might also want to take along some extra university essentials, so you’ve got all the home comforts.
If you’re away from home for the first time, you’ll need a set of cookware so you can keep yourself fuelled during those long study days. Our student kitchen sets are ideal for first years, as they come with the basic pots and pans that you’ll need as well as essentials you might have forgotten like tin openers and utensils. You might also want to take a dinner set, so you’ve got enough plates, bowls, and mugs for when friends come over.
Your room is your sanctuary away from your housemates at uni. So, it’s worth taking some things along to personalise the space and make it cosy. Start with a colourful bedding set and some comfy pillows and cushions. A mattress topper can also be an excellent buy if the mattress in your room has seen better days.
There are lots of little things you can add to your room to make it more like a home. Add some picture frames with photos of friends or family, or a cosy bean bag for when you need to curl up and read. Some fun fairy lights create a warm glow and make a space feel more welcoming.
Whether you’re sharing a bathroom or have lucked out and have an en-suite, add some bathroom accessories to make the space more like home. A new shower curtain or shower caddy can make a big difference. And don’t forget to pack a set of towels.
Study time
When exams or that big essay deadline are just around the corner, make sure you have everything you need for those long study days. A laptop should be top of your uni essentials list, and you might want to add an external hard drive to back up those important projects. Avoid the queues at the library by taking your own printer.
