Red Nose Day 2019 is over

It's been a fantastic year

Thank you all so much for your generosity this Red Nose Day. Argos customers bought over 16,500 Red Noses online, contributing to an enormous £11,010,398 raised across Sainsbury's Argos.

Where does the money raised go?

Comic Relief uses the money raised through Red Nose Day to deliver brilliant solutions to some of the world’s most terrible problems – supporting vulnerable people and communities both in the UK and overseas.

Comic Relief aims to split their funding 50/50 between the UK and rest of the world. They’re currently focusing on these 4 issues:

Children survive and thrive

Millions of children all over the world aren’t able to survive and thrive because they aren’t getting their basic needs met. When children can’t reach their potential, this has devastating consequences for their lives, for their whole communities and for future generations. We are striving to ensure that every child has the best start in life by supporting families and communities to meet all young children’s needs.

Global mental health matters

Mental ill health affects one in ten people at any given time, yet the majority of the world’s population can’t access specialist mental health support, and many suffer in silence. Comic Relief is working with partners to ensure that people with mental health problems have access to appropriate help and can live free from the stigma and discrimination they now face.

Fighting for gender justice

Throughout the world, women and girls face discrimination, inequality, violence and exploitation on a daily basis - purely because of their gender. Comic Relief has been funding programmes that empower women and girls since we began over 30 years ago and we are continuing to fight for their justice and equality today.

A safe place to be

Millions of people around the world don’t have a safe place to live, having been forced from their homes due to conflict, natural disasters, poverty or personal and family circumstances. Comic Relief is working to ensure that everyone in the UK, and some of the world's poorest people, can access a secure home, in a safe environment, where they can live with dignity.

Red Nose Day is an initiative of Comic Relief, which is the trading name of Charity Projects, a registered charity in England and Wales (326568) and Scotland (SC039730).
