If you’re breastfeeding your baby, you can make it a little easier on yourself with some of our breastfeeding accessories. A feeding pillow will give you extra support under your shoulder and around your back so you can get into a position that is comfortable for you and your baby. You may also want to try a nursing chair, which will give you additional support and make feeding a time for bonding not struggling with pain and discomfort. If you’re suffering from soreness during the start of breastfeeding, breast shells can protect you from chafing against your bra in-between feeds and stop breastfeeding becoming too painful.
Of course, you can still give your baby all the benefits of breast milk while giving yourself a rest if you express milk into baby bottles. That way dad or other relatives can feed your baby while you enjoy time for a cup of tea or a nap, but you know they’re getting all the nutrition they need. A Medela electric breast pump can help you express a full bottle very quickly, but you can opt for a hand pump where you’re in charge of the amount of suction. If you’ll be using bottles alongside the breast, investigate our steam sterilisers for an effective way to keep bottles and teats hygienically clean without using detergents or chemicals.
As your baby grows, they’ll start to move onto solid food, and you’ll need to invest in a highchair so that they can sit up and begin to experience new tastes. Look for a chair with a detachable or sliding tray so that it is easy to strap your baby in and take them out and one with easy wipe seats so that cleaning up after mealtimes is simple. Having plenty of muslin squares is useful for mopping up spills, liquids, and cleaning faces and fingers, behind ears and everywhere else food ends up (the ceiling perhaps?).
When it’s time to venture out of the home we can help you there too: buggies, sun hats, baby changing bags. Everything you need, whether you’re going for a day out or just nipping to the shops.
