Taking out Breakdown Care

Breakdown Care can be taken out when you purchase your item in-store, over the phone or online. You also have up to 45 days from purchasing your product in which to buy it, providing your product is still in good working order. Just return to store (within 45 days of purchasing the product with your item's receipt(s).

Your terms and conditions will be sent to you in the post. Keep these safe as you will need them to request repairs.

If you spill a drink on your laptop...

Breakdown Care protects you against breakdowns that happen outside of the manufacturer's guarantee. You'll also be protected against damage caused by accident from the moment your plan starts.

Just request a repair and if it's approved, we'll get it fixed it for you. It's quick, easy and you won't have to worry about the cost.

Washing machine disaster...

Unlimited repairs are included with Breakdown Care. It doesn't matter how many times your product breaks down during the length of your care plan - because there's no limit to the number of times it can be repaired.

Our engineers will always try to repair your product, so you'll have it back up and running as soon as possible. If it can't be fixed or costs more to repair than to replace, you could get a new one or Argos vouchers for a replacement. Delivery and installation charges may apply.

We offer Breakdown Care for up to 2, 3 or 4 years, depending on the item's manufacturer's guarantee. We will tell you what plan is available when you buy an item from us either in-store, over the phone or online for full details.

This is a summary of key information you need to know about when purchasing Breakdown Care (the plans).

Your Statutory Rights
Your Statutory Rights will not be affected when you buy a plan. These include the right to claim a refund, repair, or replacement for up to six years if your electrical goods were not of satisfactory quality or fit for purpose when they were sold to you.

Other providers
Plans may be available from other providers. You may also be covered under your household contents insurance or other policies that you may hold.

When can I buy a plan?
You can buy a plan at the point of purchase or within 45 days of buying your item.

When does the plan end?
If your item is replaced under the plan, the plan will end.

Cancellation period
Your plan can be cancelled at any time within 45 days of purchase. You will receive a full refund if you have not used any services under the plan.

Termination rights
After the 45 day cancellation period you may terminate the plan at any time. If you have not received a replacement you will be refunded some of your fee.

Meeting the obligations under your plan
The obligations under your Domestic & General plan are backed by assets held within a trust fund for your protection.
