Customer reviews and ratings

Rated 3.9 out of 5 by 81 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by It's an iron but in another league. Submitted as part of a selected review panel. I have used this iron over the last couple of weeks and must say that it is the best iron I have used. From a distance it looks just like any other iron but take a closer look and you will see that it is a huge leap forward and in front of the competition. The soleplate has a large surface area but it's not flat. Carefully designed bevelled edges help to glide over rough fabric without it creasing on itself. There are steam outlets throughout the Ceranium Glisée coated base ensure just one pass is required of even the toughest fabric. This iron is equipped with an "i-Temp" setting which really is a set And forget temperature system. I have tested this constantly swapping between thick denim to cotton and even more delicate fabrics. I don't know how it works but it does and it works well. I don't think I would buy another iron unless it has this feature. Another ground breaking feature is the "Sensor Secure" hand grip. This simply turns off the heater unless the iron is being handled. An energy saving system which you don't realise you need until you pop upstairs to put something away or suddenly get called away to tend to the kids. The iron holds about 400ml water which lasts me about 45 minutes on the highest steam setting but this feels extended as I have not found any need to press the steam shot button. This iron seems to work a lot better than the steam generator irons I have used in the past. This iron is well thought out, the shape allows easy ironing with a handy thumb position helping with the steering. The pointed end which protrudes from the body makes it easy to see where you are going especially useful in detailed clothing or for pleats etc. The only fault I could find is the water reservoir is almost opaque and it is difficult to see visually the water level but a quick shake of the iron will let you know when to refill so it's not a problem. I wouldn't buy another iron after this as I know it just won't be as good. 27 January 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Safety built in Submitted as part of a selected review panel. Taking the iron out of the box I could see that it was nicely styled, it felt sturdy and had a very long cable. It has a large filling hole for the water and is supplied with a small jug, which didn't drip whilst pouring, the water level indicator is easy to see, you need to hold the iron at an angle to fill. This iron only takes tap water, even in hard water areas, so no more expensive ironing water. There is a 'clean' function to remove any scale build up within the iron. I was pretty impressed that there were no leakage of drips of water at any time. The power cord has a multi angle connection to the iron which I think is a good feature. The heat up time is incredibly quick, no more waiting around for ages for your iron to reach the desired temperature. There is a safety feature built in which I think is fabulous - after the initial heat up, the iron is off if you are not holding it, so if you are distracted for any reason, then the iron is perfectly safe, I have this feature on a set of straightening irons and I would actively choose products of this nature that had this feature. I have used this iron on shirts - it gets in to all the little fiddly bits round the buttons with ease, there are useful steam boost and water spray buttons for stubborn creases, the soleplate has a thin part around the edge so you can go underneath buttons or decoration without getting stuck. Having this iron to try prompted me to have a spring clean and I washed all the curtains in the house, I used the 'itemp' function for those - this is a nifty feature that decides on the optimum temperature for the best result for a given fabric - it worked very well and I am not sure that I would go back to setting a temperature manually now. The steam function is very powerful, extremely useful for vertical steaming - I used it on a blazer with good results. I don't usually iron my bedding, but as I was testing this unit I did, it simply powered through duvets, pillowslips and sheets with ease - in fact, it felt like this iron almost 'refinished' the fabric, making the bedlinen feel like new! Would I recommend this iron? A resounding YES - it has been a pleasure to use and is a well built, well thought out, useful addition to my household. 25 January 2016
Rated 1 out of 5 by Good when working Bought June 2014. Very happy with it until yesterday. funny crackling sound inside. Will not heat up anymore. Very disappointed. Only bought because my last one lasted years. . Not cheap. Will not be purchasing another one from Bosch! 17 January 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Incredible Iron I adore this iron. It is far superior to my old one. It's very easy to use and has a very long cord. My only gripe would be that the water holder is quite dark so it's very difficult to see the water level. However it wouldn't be enough to put me off buying it. I get through my ironing in double quick time now as it's so efficient. Thank you. 15 January 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by The Bosch Sensixx'x DA70 i-Temp Steam Iron Submitted as part of a review panel, I was asked to test out this iron and review it, so here are my experiences with using it this last week or so. My initial thoughts on the iron was how it looked bigger and felt heavier than my 8 year old Bosch steam iron, it has a longer lead and a bigger capacity water tank. It also has a ceramic sole plate that claims to be easy glide, we shall see. I was particularly interested to try the new 'i-Temp' temperature control that claims to iron different fabrics using one temperature, so I tested out this claim first on a delicate fabric, a dress that was made of a silky polyester with flock devoré pattern on top. I turned on the iron put the steam on low and set the i-Tem dial on midway. The dress ironed up surprisingly well, it wasn't too hot and the sole plate glided smoothly without shine over the devoré, impressive, but what about my husband's bone dry cotton/linen mix shirt that was covered in creases unironed in his wardrobe? I kept the iron on the i-Temp control and turned up the steam switch to max. It wasn't an easy task, yet the D70 seemed to cut through those stubborn creases with ease, now that was impressive, I would have had to dampen the shirt first with my old iron. My son tested it out too with his wool trousers, he thought the D70 was easy to use. The water tank holds a lot of water, but I cannot see it in the iron as the casing is not transparent, hence four stars not five. It's a good iron that copes well with different fabrics, it is very quick to heat and has simple controls and good safety features, such as the blue light on the handle that flashes when you put it down, to remind you it's still on and a 'SensorSecure' function that switches off the iron when not being handled, a great idea that is safe and saves electricity too, as it heats up super quick. The temperature control has a green flashing light which stops flashing when the temperature has been reached. Another good product from Bosch that makes my ironing chore quicker and easier. 14 January 2016
