40" Hitachi TV Saw this in Dec sale and couldn't believe the price. Bought a wall bracket and as it is so thin bought right-angle aerial and hdmi adapters for just a few pounds and fixed it to wall. Looks so sleek against wall with very small border around screen. Picture is excellent and set up easy. Can't think how this could be beaten! 14 January 2014
Excellent puchase I bought this as a present for some friends of mine and they are absolutely delighted with it. The picture quality is excellent, as is the sound quality. They used it for the first time on Christmas Day and said they have never watched so much television! 14 January 2014
A good quality picture but sound quality slightly tinny. Very good value for money. 14 January 2014

Answer:
I would say NO.

Simply because external HDDs are formatted to NFTS (file system) and TVs which run an "embedded" Linux / Unix / Solaris
O/S can't read this type of file system.
However, they can read FAT/FAT32 (file system) you may be able to watch a clip on a USB flash drive, as these are commonly pre-formated to the older system (being FAT/FAT32)

In most cases the USB port is used for playing back .jpg & .mp3

Answer:
Well its obvious, simply because all new TVs have digital Freeview tuners built in, as the analogue (1-5) TV service is now obsolete.

So its now the norm, that new TVs have digital tuners, (as opposed to fitting a useless Analogue tuner) in some cases a FreeSat tuner will replace the Freeview service, but this would be stated.

Answer:
No need for any separate box.
The tv has the freeview receiver built in, when you get it, plug the aerial in first then the mains, and the tv will auto tune itself in to the available channels.
You must have a good quality aerial, and you won't get HD pictures, unless you have a subscription to Sky, Virgin, etc.
You will need a separate box to get HD.

Answer:
You probably have the screen mode in "Dynamic". To change this you can either go into the menu or simply press the "presets" button on the top right of the remote. Hope this helps.

Hi,

Sorry for the slight delay in getting back to you. I have spoken to the supplier, and they advise that the Hitachi 40 Inch Full HD LED TV supports .mpg, .mpeg, .vob, .mkv and .avi video files in the MPEG 1 and MPEG2 format only. It also supports mp3, jpg and jpeg files for music and photos.
