Cracking Toastie.....
The toaster makes cracking toasties. The only downside is that when heating up and whilst it's toasting, there are irregular cracking sounds, which I presume is the metal/elements expanding

Great features!
Bought two weeks ago and really easy to use Just make a sandwich of your choice while panini maker is heating up. It holds 4 four 🥪 from a large sliced loaf. My favourite is cheese and tomato 🍅. When the green light goes out its ready to use. I love it! I have thrown my shabby toaster away and do my breakfast toast on it as well. It toasts it really well in minutes Having a new kitchen fitted soon so will have to put it on a table in my front room as I won't be able to use the kitchen. Sandwiches 🥪 are so tasty so don't mind living off them for a week until my new kitchen is done. Would reccomend.

Excellent have used it nearly everyday, not just for toasted bread, burgers, bacon, steak cooks really quick, makes bacon nice and crispy, it heats up fast, large size you can get 4 paninis with ease. Cleaning the non stick surface wipe with some kitchen towel to remove most things, then wash the surfaces with hot soapy water.

Very Versatile!
I bought this as an alternative to a small sandwich maker and it was the best thing we ever did! The high power, heats the sandwich press really quickly and in turn, it heats the contents of the sandwich/panini just beautifully. The contents are well cooked all the way through and it's really hot. The cleaning of the machine is just so easy - the lovely non-stick surface just requires a wipe over and that's it! It's easy to store with a good way of keeping the cable tidy and you can lock the lid to prevent it from opening when being put away or when in storage. I would fully recommend this product to anyone wanting the best of having a toasted sandwich or a Panini. Absolutely superb!

Churns out 4 toasted sandwiches with ease!
If you are looking for a sturdy non stick hotplate for toasted sandwiches and paninis then look no further! This is now being used to cook about 21 toasted sandwiches each week for a job club and it is brilliant. Easy to use and clean, it does 4 slices of consistent crispy rounds and we are delighted with it. The last one we has was smaller but lasted very well. This upgraded size has been a delight.

Breville VST026 does not have a manual height‑adjustment slider. Instead, it uses a floating top plate, which automatically adjusts to different sandwich thicknesses.

Hi Barney - Yes, the cheese will melt out if too much is used, if the bread isn't large enough for the cheese, or if the sandwich is overfilled. To prevent leakage, leave a small border of bread around the cheese and avoid overfilling the sandwich.

With the Breville VST026, you don’t need to butter both sides of the bread or panini. The non-stick plates are designed to cook evenly without sticking. If you prefer a crispier, golden finish, you can lightly butter or oil the outside of the bread before toasting, but this is entirely optional.

While it is technically possible to prepare pancakes using the VST026, it is less likely to yield good results with traditional pancake batter, as the consistency is usually too runny to sit properly on the sandwich plates.
However, you may have better success using a thicker, protein-rich batter for example, one made with blended cottage cheese, eggs, and a small amount of olive oil. This type of mixture tends to be firmer and may hold its shape better during cooking.
Feel free to experiment carefully, but please note that this appliance is not specifically designed for pancake preparation, so results may vary.

The VST026 does not come with panini or sandwich plates. The unit features embedded flat plates, which are built into the appliance. These are versatile and allow you to prepare various types of bread, heat tortillas, and toast a wide range of items without the need for interchangeable plates.

The product is not made to make toasts like regular toasters. Given enough time, you can have brown and crispy toast bread but it will be pressed unlike normal toasters.
