Does the job but look around for other models
I bought this recently. It's not as sturdy as I expected. Some people really like it but I think it's average.

Great little sweeper
Works well on carpet with crumbs, not so good on hard floors but does pick up something. Has a nice rubber edging top stop damaging furniture (especially when your toddler decides he's going to sweep up). Long enough handle and we are pretty tall people. The handle was a bit tricky to screw together but just needed a little patience.

Great for a quick clean up
I bought this for our church to clean up the odd bit of dirt without having to haul out the electric cleaner every time. Works a treat. Handle a bit tricky to screw together, but once together, tighten fully and it will stay put.

A perfect little hero!
My grandmother used a bissell and I also remembered how efficient it was to clear all mess on the floor. I wanted one and found it on this website at a very good price. I am very happy with my purchase. It's very effective to use and causes me no pain to use. Being in constant pain I struggle to use the hoover so I got the bissell and I manage very well. A few swipes across the floors and the job is done. No wires, no struggle and best of all no pain. This bissell is a very good help.

The handle on the Bissell 2314E Sturdy Sweep Manual Floor Sweeper does detach. It comes in sections that screw together, until all sections are either used or desired height reached.

The sturdy sweeper will perform better on flat surfaces due to its design. It would pick up larger pieces on an uneven surface, but it will struggle with small pieces (crumbs) in dips in the flooring.
With regards to this being compact and fit for travel, the handle can be removed at 2 points so it is reduced down to a compactable size.
