Not just an ironing board!

"I did loads of research before choosing my new ironing board after purchasing my first steam generator iron. I was looking for one that was the same quality as my Beldray board, which still has loads of life in it after nearly 20 years but didn't have the mesh surface that the steam generator irons need (nearly scalded myself a couple of times, as the steam could only escape sideways!). This was the only one that I couldn't find a bad review on and I can see why! Its construction is very solid, reflected in the weight (although at 5ft 6", I don't have a problem carrying it around), so there's definitely no wobbling or risk of tipping over with the heavy iron base on it.
I love the child safety feature too - I don't have children around but do sometimes leave the ironing board up for a day or two and I can move this board out of the way without risk of it collapsing (which was the only complaint I had with my beloved Beldray board).
I didn't think I'd need the bendy legs feature that allows you to sit at the ironing board, as I always stand to iron, but actually it makes a great table, as the height range is fantastic and the surface is large enough to be useful - no more perching on the edge of my sofa with the coffee table dragged close and hunching forward to wrap presents in front of the TV or do my crafting - what a relief for my back! I have also used it at near full height - far too high for ironing for someone of my height but perfect when cutting out fabric, as I could do this while standing upright - bending is now definitely a thing of the past and my back will be happier for it!
I will get a lot of use from this board and am happy in the knowledge that it'll probably be the last one I will ever buy because it's so solidly built. The other thing I like is that the feet are wide, so they don't dig holes into the carpet when the board is up for a long time. If you're in two minds about buying this board because of the price, please don't give it another thought - this is money very well spent and it's nice to see that some things can still be made to a quality standard that's meant to last. Well done Brabantia!"

"Very large ironing board, but not heavy. Makes ironing quicker. Great quality, and IS suitable for use with steam generator. (You just have to put the base on the floor). Heat resisitant area is useful. Should last for years. Would recommend."

"This ironing board comes with clout. It is as solid as a rock and has adjustable height to suit from shorties to those over 6ft tall so the old man has no excuse not to do some ironing himself!
If you use a steam generating Iron you have already invested in an expensive piece of machinery. This board enhances that."
