Answer:
That's precisely what I said and have actually done.

What it means it that the water into the the sink tap is NOT softened.

BUT I think that the box containing the tap should bear a sticker stating the limitations of the taps.

It's all working well!

Answer:
Hi, the cold feed for the Torlan needs to be direct from an unsoftened supply. The Hot supply can however be through the softener. Pleasecall our technical team on 015302 75511 opt. 3 for further help.

Answer:
I have discovered that it cannot be used to obtain softened hot AND cold output plus filtered unsoftened water. There is a compromise solution. Connect the hot softened water to the hot sink tap and the incoming hard water to the cold tap that supplies the sink. Then the filtered water will not have been through the softener. If the plumbing is done properly the majority of the water used in the house will be softened thus benefiting the washing machine, dishwater and baths/showers.

Position of tap on sink

1 year, 6 months ago
In your example photos you only show the 3-way tap fitted at the corner of a sink. Can the tap be fitted centrally so that it still serves a double sink unit?
Also, how long does a cartridge last on average, and is it fitted below the work surface. If the water pipes have restricted space will that effect the possible use of this tap?

Answer:
Hi, the tap will generally replace your existing tap. If this isn't the case I beleive you can use a blanking plate and then position it where you require it to be. The Cartridges last for approx. 3 months depending on usage.

Answer:
Hello Oaty and thanks for your query,

Having looking into this for you, I can confirm that the BRITA Torlan Kitchen Tap - Chrome, can be fitted centrally and will be confirmed with yourself and the fitter.

Each cartridge is expected to last up to 6 months of use before needing replacing, and is fitted nearby the sink at your preference, whether that is below the sink or otherwise. The cartridge is fitted via a short pipe that connects to the tap, so it will need to be close.

I hope I was able to help!

Thank you for using Argos Q&A.
