The instructions for use of the Salter Mechanical Bathroom Scales - Black state that the scales should be used on a firm, flat surface. On balance, we would say that use on carpets is not suitable however the only way to compare would be to try them out on a hard floor and then the carpet (as carpets can be variable), to see if the weights were comparable.
