"If you are a fairly competent D I Yer should have no problem with this kit.
It is essential to have someone watching the TV when looking for % signal strength as very small adjustments of LNB and Dish cause loss of signal."

Freesat Installation Kit - DO NOT BUY

"I spent nearly a day fixing the thing to the wall and trying to find a signal I gave up when it got dark and I still didn't have a signal, with the neighbours laughing at me I hid in the house.
Next day I rang a professional Installer who promptly came to the house took one look at the dish and said it is totally useless. The fixings provided would not stand a stongish gust of wind and (in his opinion) had no chance of getting a signal with the Signal Indicator Gadget or Compass provided.
He took the dish down and installed his own one, lined it up tuned it in and hey presto 40mins and I had a Freesat signal.
DO NOT PURCHASE - I am now going to try to get my money back.

"Having looked briefly at excellent idiot guides on youtube this was pretty eay to to install and the little signal finder worked as it should. Provided the cabling is connected firmly between me and the wife we were able to get 100% receptin in no time at all. Ordering through Argos was very good but I did not find easily how to spend my Nectar points through the website."

"The kit came without any installation instructions and incompatible cable and cable connectors. I had to buy the correct cable connectors from a TV shop and email the manufacturers - Philex, for instructions. I am a competant DIYer but who but an expert would know that the satellite "east 28.2" can be found at a bearing of 144.67 degrees, an elevation of 22.83 degrees and a polarisation of -12.45. What good is a compass and satellite finder if you don't know where to look?"

It does the job but not easily

"It's certainly a FreeSat dish and it certainly works. Now I have it up and running it's giving me a great picture.
However, the actual instructions are horrendous. Actually they don't even exist.
You get one piece of paper with an expanded drawing of the dish, showing where the bolts go, that's it. There are NO instructions on how to use the Satellite finder and no help on how to do it yourself.
Unless you have good technical skill in this, or want to research all the info on the net yourself (like I did) you WILL need a professional installer.
Just for reference, how to use the sat finder:
-Pop it in between the cable to the freesat box and the dish.
-Turn the box on so you get power in the finder
-Use an Allan key (2mm I think it is) to turn the little dial inside until you can hear a high-pitched noise and the lights come on.
-Once you have this, turn it in the opposite direction so, say, half the lights are on and the noise is dull.
-Adjust the dish until the lights and noise are up to full again
-Then turn the dial more so the noise and lights go down, reducing the sensitivity
-Tweak the Dish more so you get a stronger signal via the finder.
-Repeat this options until you can't get the signal any stronger. You won't be able to turn the dial all the way to the lowest sensitivity.
-I eventually got it to a point where I had maximum lights on the finder, but when I just nudged the dish even a few MM, I lost the signal totally. At that stage I had 100% strength and 100% quality for the channels.

Also don't forget the skew etc (research it). Basically none of this info is included in the kit.
So, it does the job as a dish, but it is not remotely DIY friendly."
