Apple iPod Classic 160GB - Black. 4.8 5 255 297
Simple but great! Can't comment on battery life yet as haven't had item long enough. Brilliant product. 31 July 2014
Excellent media centre I have over the years had many different media devices. This is by far the best. Easy to understand and use. Superb audio quality and although a relatively small screen good quality visual playback. Overall money well spent. 22 July 2014
Excellent in the car. Excellent to play in a car via the aux input. It took all my 18,000 tracks from my computer (High quality MP3) with room to spare! 29 August 2014
Worth spending hi, I bought my classic 160GB a few weeks back and am really very happy with its excellent sound quality and a huge space for storing music. My entire albums are being dragged into it so all in one. The only thing I really dont like about it is the limitation of supportive file format. Unfortunately, it doesnt support flac file so wav is the alternate option for lossless files (for me). overall excellent !! 08 July 2014
Not sure yet I have loaded 1700 tracks and on its second charge the battery gives conflicting info when plugged in it reads full when cable out it reads only quarter full so not sure at the mo.. Customer service on purchase good 29 July 2014

Answer:
Hello C Hillman, thank you for your question regarding the Apple iPod Classic 160GB - Black.

Having spoken to Apple I can confirm that this is the 6th Generation iPod Classic. They have advised me that there is no difference between the 6th and the the informally known "7th" generation. Indeed I have been advised that Apple officially are listing the iPod Classic as 6th generation.

Having checked a serial number of one of the Classics sold in store on the Apple Warranty Checker, it lists this as the late 2009 revision of the Classic, which is the slim revision replacing the 120gb slim model. I hope this information helps.

Thank you for using Argos Q+A.

Answer:
Hi there,

For the Apple iPod Classic 160GB - Black, the Manufacturers reference for the Apple iPod Classic 160GB is MC293QB/A, which a web search suggested as the latest 6th Generation, however, I recommend you confirm that yourself as well.

I hope this helps and have a good day.

At the moment I am avoiding buying this item from Argos because I can't get a satisfactory answer to whether or not you are selling the latest 7th generation version of the ipod 160gb classic or not. Other sellers have the item listed as either 6th or 7th generation which can be determined by the serial numbers prefixes. Please could you confirm? It does make a difference as the 7th generation ones appear to be about £30 or £40 dearer than the 6th gen. With many thanks.

Each revision and generation is assigned a model number which can be found on the back of the iPod. If you can provide this then I can check the generation and revision numbers with apple.
