"This was the least expensive sewing machine, but there is nothing cheap about it.
It works superbly and has a full range of accessories in the storage area in the table.

I used it to sew multiple ply denim. No problem.

I could not find the X5 on the Brother website but it appears to be a much more expensive model with some of the fancy stitches omitted.
In fact the range of stitches on this machine is superb. Normal, sig-zag and so on.
I have not tried making a buttonhole or sewing a button using the attachments, nor have I tried the double needle, but if they are anything like the rest of the machine they will be great.

The instruction book is excellent. The DVD is not about how to use the machine but a Brother promo, but who cares - you don't need it.
Very very easy to wind a bobbin and fit it. Very easy to thread (you have to thread the needle)

There is a great amateur demon on U-tube that shows how easy it is to use.
A great robust machine at an incredibly low price.
In case you have not noticed, I am a guy. I wanted it to make some carry bags. If I can use it and get good results, anyone can."

"I bought this as a replacment of a machine i also purchased from Argos 9years ago. I am a fan of singer style machines as they feel sturdy and metal that doe snot break like the plastic does. I was let down by that older machine rarely used and the plastic did not last long.
I thought this machine would be a good replacment so far its done well. But also made of flimsy plastic and i am sure will not last long.

It does the job its brand new so all works, all the settings and its easy to follow instruction although would of made SENSE to put the photo and instructions on the same page. So that is a little annoying. It is extremely noisey which i was dissapointed about, its a good brand name so you expect better quality. I tend to sew at night after work etc, and this is way to noisey to use at night.
The only good thing is that it works, and is cheap and within my price range. if you have more to spend deffo' go for a better brand and better quality."
