Lovely, cosy electric blanket. Turn on to setting 2 an hour before bed and it's lovely and warm, need to remember ber to turn it to 1 before nodding off as it does get too warm but turns off automatically after a few hours anyway. Bought the king size to cover the width of a double bed, length finishes at the pillow. Very happy with this blanket

New design
I was sure surprised at the appearance of this electric blanket when I opened the pack at home. It's like a big square with long elastic tags at each corner to attach it to the mattress. It doesn't cover the mattress fully, more like 3/4. it's labelled 'Double" but my bed is a 3/4 size bed and this cover just about stretches to fit. I doubt very much that it will fit a proper double bed. The manufacturer has really cut back on material because my last electric blanket bought a few years ago was like a fitted sheet and covered the entire mattress. This new 'design' doesn't reach to the bottom of the bed so your feet will cold unless you curl up into the warm part. And then the bulky control/plug part is partly on the mattress which is not good if you're sharing with someone or you rollover onto it. You will get a hard prod uncomfortable prod in your back. Having said that you will still have a nice warm bed to sleep in with 4 control levels. Level 1 is gently warm. level 2 is very warm, level 3 is hot, and level 4...haven't tried but probably baking!

"This would be fine, as long as the electric blanket is covered following instructions in the manual provided. However, please note that mattress protectors are designed to go under sheeting, to keep them protected and extend the longevity.
We can only advise for Silentnight mattress protectors. All Silentnight products are safe to use with an electric blanket however other brands would need to be checked with the manufacturer directly. In regards to waterproof or plastic backed protectors, again the Silentnight is safe to use however, if there is a likelihood of an accident we do recommend the electric blanket is switch off and unplugged while in bed."

It is not recommended to place an electric blanket under a mattress topper. Doing so can prevent the blanket from heating effectively and may even damage the mattress topper, depending on its material. It is best to use the electric blanket on top of the mattress topper for optimal heat transfer and safety.

The supplier has advised that the Silentnight Comfort Control Electric Underblanket - Single wattage is -
Setting 1 : 12 Watts
Setting 2: 25 Watts
Setting 3: 40 Watts
The wattage on the size/models do vary, however this is only relevant on warm up, once the electric blanket has reached temperature, it is recommended to reduce the settings down to setting 1. This can then be run for longer periods of time like throughout the night.
