Answer:
I'm no expert, but looking at it logically, I would say the lower setting would use less electricity as it doesn't have to power the light bulb to full brightness.

What Bulb Should Be Used

3 years, 7 months ago
In the answer to a previous question about this product, it states that low energy bulbs cannot be used with this lamp. Your product description recommends using a 1 x 60W BC GLS bulb. Searching for this item on your website returns product catalog code 432/8379 Philips Softone Energy Saver GLS 20W BC Bulb. In the Q&A section for this light bulb says it is not recommended for dimmer switches. However, this lamp is dimmable. So what bulb should be used with this lamp?

Answer:
Hi, thank you for your question.

Having looked into this for you I can confirm that the bulb stated previously; 1 x 60W BC GLS bulb, will be the recommended bulb needed to use this lamp. I do apologise we do not sell these specific bulbs, you will be best referring to an independant electrical retailer who may specialise in this area.

Thank you for using Argos Q&A.

What is "4-step touch sensor switch" and could the low energy bulb be used in the lamp?

Answer:
Hi, thank you for your question.

Having looked into your query, I can confirm that the 4 step touch sensor switch means that for every time you touch the lamp (up to 4 times) the brightness of the light increases. From customer reviews, this lamp does not work with low energy bulbs.

Thank you for using Q & A.
