Diana, No, this is not an induction device... it really is just a simple, portable double-ring hotplate that will heat/cook/boil/fry any normal metal vessel that you would use on an electric oven's hotplate/hob/ring.
A point I forgot to mention in my review, was that either of the hobs/rings (whatever term you prefer to use for the heating plates), really do heat up without undue delay. It does NOT reach the required heat instantly, yet it IS still as fast, if not slightly faster than some modern basic oven hotplates of my experience.

I have contacted the supplier about the weight pf this product. The weight given by Argos of 16.25 kg is for a carton containing three of these items. So the weight of an individual product, including the box, is about 5 kg.
