Great little heater Bought for a caravan holiday because this time of year they can be a little chilly. This heater did exactly what we wanted and it has a great safety feature in that if you knock it over or even tit it it switches off so no fire risk either. 23 September 2014

Set the alarm off

2 weeks, 1 day ago
I bought the fan heater today and after about 2 minutes the fire alarm in my room went off. The heater was quite far from it and facing the other way, but it did smell a bit weird the moment I turned it on. There was noting near it or covering it, and it barely started heating up.

I just wanted to ask if this is normal, and if there is any way of preventing this from happening again?

Answer:
It may well have been the dust burning off the internal parts, which sometimes happens to heaters when they are been stored for a while.

You could try it and see if the smell disappears, if not take it back for a refund there could be something wrong with it.

Answer:
NO, this heater will use considerable less energy during fan mode. Make this clear its a fan not a cooler.

The heater elements are the things which swallow electricity, while in fan mode these are switched off.

Am a bit confused about watts and amps. If we wanted to use this on cool setting only - will it still have the full 2k output, or is it lower on the cool setting. We will be on electric hook up in France where the ampage may be lower than here (3 or 6)

Answer:
On the cool setting the unit will only use the amount of electricity required to drive the fan motor which will simply act as a fan and blow out air which will appear cool. This will be much less than 2 Kilowatts. The 2 Kilowatts refers to the maximum amount of electricity ( volt x Amps ) that is used when the unit is in the maximum heating mode.
Hope this helps?
