"I returned two of these due to a poor finish on the gate, both having chips and scratches on them. I am now on the third and I settled for one with a scratch. However the gate itself is the best I have had, the locking mechanism is an easy one handed operation. It also feels solid when closed. Just be aware if you have anything above where you would mount the gate I would steer clear of this item. You mount some brackets, then you have to slide the gate into these brackets from above, if you can understand that. I had to rip my stair hand rail off to fit this. Not happy about that! This is the reason for an average rating."

"This gate was actually brought to keep my staffy out of the kitchen. I have had various gates before, due to children, but am very pleased with my purchase for various reasons.
Firstly it was extremely easy to assemble and install in opening. Exceptionally sturdy and the opening is to the max, and very easy to open and close. Added bonus is that it is very pleasing to the eye, which was very important in my choice.
May seem slightly expensive but I can not express enough that it is definitley worth paying extra for this product, its first rate. I had another well known gate with extensions previously which failed miserably, so would totally recommend!!!!!!"

"Have had several safety gates. some have fallen apart. Some the kids have managed to learn how to open. This one is sturdy and secure. The fittings make it very difficult for children to weaken the gate or detach it , but it is easily removed by an adult when not required. Have had this gate for several months and so far the Houdini toddlers have not managed to escape!"
