These wall-mounted bookshelves keep your child's favourite stories, toys and treasures organised without eating into floor space. You'll get two white shelves in the set, so there's room to display books with the covers facing out, small trinkets, family photos, and special keep-sakes. I didn't realise till I got them how shallow these shelves actually are. Because of the back and front to the shelves, the actual usage space is only 6cm deep which is not enough to even place a cup on. Will be returning for a refund...

The supplier has advised the following for the Kids Set of 2 Bookshelves - White:
As cups can vary so much in size and shape, we cannot give an exact answer. We'd advise against putting a mug of hot liquid like coffee on a bookshelf in a child's room anyway as a matter of safety. Also a full cup/mug could be quite heavy too though each shelf will support a maximum weight of 3kg but you would need to consider the weight of the other items already on it as well. However, it would be possible, subject to these caveats, to put a cup or mug onto the shelf if it was the right shape and size.

The depth of the actual display part of the each shelf is 5.7cm so it will depend on the thickness of the books used. A thin children's book may measure approx 1cm in thickness so you could fit a few, maybe 3, behind each other and having them tilted towards the back so they don't topple. This will also depend on the width of the books, as the shelf measures 60cm in width. If the books are small, about 15cm wide, you could fit 4 books across. If they are large, like 30cm, perhaps only 2 across with some other books fitting behind it. If you see photo 1 on the product page, you can see the different size books that can fit on the shelves and how many they can roughly hold.

The Kids Shelving Display Unit - White already have a painted finish. You would have to rub them down with sand paper then apply undercoat then a gloss or silk finish in the colour of your choice.
