Brilliant watch
These don't last forever but are fantastic. This is my fourth in a dozen or maybe twenty years because I mistreat them - though when the battery is finally replaced that sometimes causes them to leak. Correct to the second. An alarm, a light, a stopwatch etc. And waterproof for all normal activities. What else could you want?

Good but flawed strap/attachment
Large display and accurate no hassel time keeping. This is the third one I have had. Straps wear out and split then the case fails where the strap pin goes in.

Great value for the money.
Really quick set up initially and now it performs a daily sync to satilette time signal so always accurate. Also it is great that you can display the date in both DD/MM & MM/DD format for us Brits. Many of the Casios at this price do not offer this facility let alone the daily sync. Fantastic.

Back to basics "radio controlled watch"
Bought for a gift as I already have this model. You can bet Argos are selling the latest version of this Casio watch. The latest version has WR 5BAR on the front of the watch. The older (discontinued) has WR 50m. The difference is the old version had a electroluminescent backlight and the 5 BAR version (newest) has a LED backlight. Setting up on the radio controlled time can take 8 or 9 minutes, really has to be away from tall buildings, tree's bus shelters etc. If it really doesn't want to sync to the signal the it could be the transmitter is turned off for maintenance. That's often in the summer. When not in use keep by the window. Would I buy another G-Shock Bluetooth watch for updating over the internet ? Well never the radio controlled used less battery power than accidentally leaving Bluetooth on.

Fantastic retro watch

Classic Wave Ceptor.
Great watch, a classic. Has been updating itself at 1am every night to keep perfect time. Has a nice amber LED backlight which is easy to read in the dark and stays lit for a few seconds too. Genuine Casio product. Love it.

Bargain accurate timekeeping
Bought during the sale for a great price. It’s not the prettiest watch to me but in terms of pure functionality it is top notch. It is now a benchmark watch to set the time for all my other Casio watches. This watch is comfortable to wear and also has a good back light. Set the watch to Auto and it will receive the correct time each day whether its DST or BST. The display is clear and the casing is metal and not resin. For the bargain price it is one of the most accurate watches you can buy.

Good all round clear watch with plenty features
I really like this watch, bought particularly for the synchronising time signal, had no issues picking this up during the day. I have left it off to preserve battery life and will manually sync as required otherwise it tries to sync overnight up to six times, it has enough accuracy to free run for weeks without a sync. Apart from that it has a world time, the local time is still visible in this mode and replaces month/day/date and year. A stopwatch with split timer, countdown timer, alarm and hourly beep. The sounder is a little quieter than the non water resistant Casios I understand this is normal for waterproof watches. The backlight is adequate, not EL as the earlier module of this watch but two yellow LEDs that stay on a couple seconds after you release the button. The strap is comfortable. It is a nice clear display with all on show at once. The glass is slightly recessed due to a plastic border that sticks up and hopefully will avoid scratches. It comes in a nice presentation tin.

Great watch, does the job and good value
Bought to replace a 20 year old similar Casio which finally packed in. Very pleased after a month, good backlight and picks up radio signal every night, easy to use and clear display. Too early to comment on durability and battery life (would have preferred a solar model) but I trust Casio from previous products.

Hello Ant
This model allows the user to view the current time at the top of the display as well as the Lap time on the main display.
Thanks for using Q and A.
I have the stainless steel strap which snapped but Casio want 80.00 for new strap which cost more than the watch so be careful.
Hi Wessex,
Thanks for your query about the Casio Wave Ceptor LCD Digital Black Resin Strap Watch.
The brand themselves do sell replacement straps, e.g. should the original be lost or become faulty/damage. However, they advise to not use it with a 3rd party strap that’s not designed for use with it.
Thanks for using Q&A.
Hi Mandt.
Yes, Casio Men's Wave Ceptor LCD Digital Black Resin Strap Watch can be set in 12/24 format.
Thanks for using Q & A.
I just got one is module 3476 is marked UKCA which came in to force 2021. As per other answer out the box it was set to Tokyo but stays set to London through an automatic time update. It has reasonable accuracy per month so will be manually triggering a synchronisation to save battery. Backlight is yellow LED not EL as per older module.
I have a Casio wave septor WV-58u with the number 3053. It is some years old and has been a good watch. BUT ,. now when receiving the time signal it defaults to year 2005 and time zone for TYK. The only way round it is to reset it manually an d mask it from the time signal . It is a real pain
Hello keith,
The supplier has advised the following for the Casio Men's Wave Ceptor LCD Digital Black Resin Strap Watch:
“ The model WV-58U-1AVES has been discontinued this year. There is no known issue that we are aware of in regard to setting up the date and time. ”
Thanks for using Q&A.
The manual says the supplied battery is a test battery will not last as long as a replacement. The accuracy is pretty good without regular synchronisation to the time signal, I would leave it on manual and do it every now and then to preserve battery. Otherwise it could check up to six times a night.
I bought one of these watches in 2017 at 21 pounds , its now 22 December 2025 and the battery has just given up .
Over 8 years and two new straps I think it must be the best 21 quid for a watch that I ever spent.
Hello there,
After checking with our supplier, they have advised for the Casio Men's Wave Ceptor LCD Digital Black Resin Strap Watch: ''Batteries can last up to 2 years depending on the functions of the watch.''
Thank you for using Q & A.
This is my second same watch. The first one I think I purchased about 3 years ago and the battery still works (only had to buy a new one because the strap broke). I never used the light on it, so that drastically prolonged the life of the battery.
Out the box its set to Japan but can be changed to London and then stays set.
