Lego Trevi Fountain. 4.5 5 17 17
my son who studied architecture in college and also in Italy loved it. He wishes someone would create the Coliseum 06 January 2015
Beautiful Build I received the Trevi Fountain set as a Christmas present and I am incredibly pleased with it. The build came together in about 3 and a half hours and the instructions were easy to follow. The build itself was very intricate, as are most of the larger architecture sets, because of all of the small pieces. However, as per Lego's suggestion, I separated the pieces by color and the task of sorting through all 731 pieces became much less daunting. Some parts of the build became a little repetitive but it was all worth it when the building finally came together. The build actually started with the base and water, which included many small bits, but the instructions did a very good job of leading me through it with minimal confusion. The main building came next, which was where it became repetitive, and finished with the rocks and the horses. If I have any complaints, it would be with the rocks and horses. This part of the build, as some other reviewers have pointed out, seemed a little flimsy, especially the horses, which fell apart several times as I tried to put them together. It tries to pack as much detail in as it can and still stay true to the scale and sacrifices some integrity to do so, which, in this case, is entirely forgivable. The final result is spectacular. I love this set and it looks great of my shelf next to the Farnsworth House and Falling Water. Enjoy and happy building! 27 December 2014
Outstanding set This was my first ever Architecture set and i'm now completely won over. The first thing you notice is the sheer weight of the box, it is absolutely packed with bricks and the accompanying booklet is pretty weighty as it includes information about the Trevi Fountain itself as well as building instructions. The build itself keeps you on your toes as a lot of the smaller rock formations need your complete attention and I ended up accidentally using the wrong gray 1x4 plate in the base (i used the dark gray rather than the light and didn't realise until I reached the roof part of the build) and so to switch the plates I had to disassemble and reassemble part of the fountain. However this wasn't particularly difficult as the base is made out of smaller plates rather than a large base plate. It starts to come together pretty quickly once you have the complexities of the base parts (rock detail and water) completed. It is a truly beautiful set and you appreciate it more and more as the build progresses. My only qualm would be that the clear bricks at the back are in front of the translucent blue bricks, meaning that for the colour to really show you have to backlight the fountain at all times so the blue is visible through the front bricks. And so It may have had more of an aesthetic impact if the translucent blue bricks were in front. Regardless of this, the Trevi Fountain is an absolutely outstanding set: fun and challenging to build and beautiful to boot. A must for all Lego fans. 14 November 2014
Very creative When I first was looking at this set I was concerned about the way the water was going to be pulled off, but ultimately I was very impressed - also impressed with the way that the small statues at the base were executed. That said, it was challenging sometimes to keep track of the direction of all of the small angled pieces that constituted the water portions, and the top of the structure was a bit repetitive. Everyone who visits immediately recognizes it as the Trevi fountain, though, and it's a lot more dynamic and visually engaged than some of the other Architecture sets. Recommended! 13 October 2014
Incredible display Overall I think the architecture line is very cool, but I hadn't built any of them until now. The Trevi Fountain is by far the best looking set in the architecture line in my opinion. I am a huge fan of classical architecture, and just about anything built in Rome. Although the display is awesome, the build is very tedious. I realize that in order to get the detail desired by builders that there has to be many small pieces, but the amount of 1x1 pieces gets a little old. Overall I really like this set, but I'm glad that I won't have to put it together again. 19 September 2014
