Metal Beard I am back with another review. It is the first lego movie review. Lets dive right in. Let us start with the mini figures which is the weakest part. You get to cool robots and the worst character from the Lego Movie, Frank the Foreman. He is a nice figure but I don't like him. Now onto the micro manager. He is really cool but ugh he is hard to stand up. Now onto Metal Beard. He is the reason I got this set. He has a lot of cool pieces but parts of him fall off. So now onto the final verdict So overall I give this set a B+ 09 August 2014
Brilliant It's been many-a-year since I last had a new set of LEGO to build, and this particular set was an excellent way to become re-addicted to LEGO. Fantastic set, fun to build with interesting features. 07 August 2014
MetalBear's Epic Dual Another great example of Lego. My six year old saved for this and whilst he did need a bit of help first time round on the build. Now that the characters have raged through some major battles and been destroyed in the process he is managing fairly well himself and as always if parts go astray others do the job as well - which just makes him a 'master builder'. Still providing hours of fun. 29 July 2014
The name be MetalBeard! And I be movie inaccurate! Well, as the title says, MetalBeard's Duel is another movie inaccurate LEGO Movie set. What are you gonna do? Anyway, I'll try to judge the set based on it's own merits. I'll start with the minifigures. SWAT SOLDIER Generic little clone robot soldier. Good to shoot at Metalbeard, but will only end up getting stomped/sliced/tossed by the fiesty pirate! And he can sit inside the Micro Manager's head. FRANK Frank is....Emmet's boss? The film didn't quite specify. He isn't a biggie in the movie, so he's not much to be excited over. SKELETRON Now here's a figure! A mechanical skeleton with red eyes! Reminds you of T2 Terminator! He is the best fig in this set, though (Here it comes) he isn't movie accurate. In the movie he was completely chrome, and he would have looked great had they done him this way, but I suppose it would be much trouble to mold all his parts in pure silver. Siiiiigh. Well, Metalbeard himself is obviously the highlight of the set, with his huge imposing mass! Well, he is quite interesting to study. He has a few generic piratey elements, i.e. pirate hat, eyepatch, peg leg, and ship parts for body. But WHAT a character! He has a treasure chest on his chest containing a hot dog and a dog bone. Now, this confused me until I saw the movie-it is obviously his organs that Lord Business tossed out after his first encounter with the pirate. Good detailing LEGO! He also has....a grey parrot?! Stumped on that one, guys. He also has a shark, which I also don't get, plus a giant sword. Excellent character, just to look at him and try to figure him out. And his arm cannons are neat-this is like the first set in which you can get 2 pirate cannons that was not an expensive ship. Gotta love that. So on to the formidable(?) Micro manager. Neat villain. It comes with hidden flick missiles, which could be fatal to MB if the Manager gets a direct hit. It comes with posable arms, which don't hold much, actually. So the set is pretty interesting. It is actually quite good for letting your violent side out and having an awesome knockout fight between machines! So is it perfect? No, MetalBeard is still quite inaccurate to his movie mode, which is kinda sad, and you aggravatingly can't grasp MB in a lot off places without twisting some part or assembly. With that said, the set is probably the best LEGO Movie set I have. Get it for Pirate lovers or LEGO Movie fans, it is pretty select for something fresh and neat. 26 July 2014
