Great set! first off I LOVE this car! it looks so cool, it's nice and sturdy as well! this set also comes with quite a lot great parts for people who make custom models! and of course it has Good Cop Bad Cop! my only real cons I have are that the set comes with 4 brown 2x4 angle plates of the same direction "could have been 2 of each direction" and that the car could use some 2x2 round underside tiles to both give it hover pads and allow it to slide across carpet easier. both are more minor complaints though. 04 August 2014
Hi, buddy! I'm your friendly neighborhood officer! I got this set after seeing the LEGO Movie since I wanted an Emmet and plus I'm a big fan of any cool police gear (Cop's helmet is exclusive). It's a bit overpriced, nothing new, but it's fun for the kids and useful for me in particular to go with all sorts of other themes. POLICE CAR: The car is a pretty fun build, with features including some hidden fold out laser cannons and an opening roof to put Cop into. Unfortunately, some stickers are used to help decorate it, but oh well. It's a fun vehicle to have, and is much cooler than any LEGO City police car. RAILROAD: This goes nice with the Lone Ranger sets. It's brick built, rather than its own mold, but it is fun to use and can collapse at one place. Below it in the water are the two police crocodiles, which are good to have since I only got one crocodile before (in Indiana Jones) and all my other chomp-chomp creatures were sharks. The railroad is quite fun when reenacting the movie or doing your own little thing. MINIFIGURES: -Emmet: The standard Emmet in all the sets. He has his not-so-generic-in-reality construction uniform with nametag, and the Piece of Resistance stuck to his back. He has a grinning face or a scared face, which I think could have been better grin-wise. I think he should look a little more like a plain-faced smiling guy than Lloyd Garmadon, but oh well. He also has brown hair that looks smooth but sticks up in the back, kind of like the original Dennis the Menace. Fun guy that is great for being the hero in any storyline. -Good Cop/Bad Cop: He's exclusive to this set. Personally, I won't be reenacting the movie, so I'll probably put a head with Aviator shades from LEGO City on him and use the nerdy face for a nerdy LEGO guy, but either way, he's pretty cool. He has exclusive police torso printing and an exclusive helmet mold, and he comes with one of those new guns from Star Wars that actually fires! Pretty fun for the little kids. OVERALL: This is a great set about ten bucks overweight. The car and the railroad are good for more than just the movie, so I would recommend it to almost anyone. For the collectors, it has a few exclusive or rare pieces, and for the kids, it's just fun to play like its the movie they all loved. This particular set will go great with the other Old West LEGO movie stuff. Thanks for reading, and don't forget to check out my other reviews in Star Wars, Marvel, Lego Ideas, and LOTR/Hobbit sets, and see what you think about some of my ideas for sets that I might mention in a few of them. Feel free to comment or add your own ideas in on your own review. Maybe LEGO will appreciate a thought or two? So, until next time, goodnight and party on! 19 July 2014
More fun than it looks I bought this just for the childhood memories of putting lights on crocodiles... and because Bad cop/Good cop was in it. I love that character! It looked kinda boring on the box, but it was more advanced and fun than it looked! I enjoyed it very much! The car had many cool details, and I also liked the railroad; the little frog underneat is super cute and adds a nice touch to a "scary" scene. 06 July 2014
"Rest in pieces" Being a huge fan of the movie on a small budget is tough, so I took a long time to decide which set I should buy. I finally settled on this when it went down from $40 to $29 at a local sale (note: The further away from the US a country is, the more we pay). The build was very fun, but relatively easy, and was separated into 3 bags. Bag one contains the minifigures, the crocodiles and the railroad tracks. The minifigures are excellent, and both have double sided faces. One thing that disappoints me is how misleading the box is. The box makes it look like two red studs are included, one for Bad Cop's gun and one for Emmett's tracker, but only 1 stud is included. This means that the spare stud included has to be used for the tracker, and now I'm down one spare piece. The railroad track thingy is designed amazingly. My only complaint on this is that it is not built on a blue baseplate. If it was, it would look like it is coming out of the water like it did in the movie. Instead, there's a small pond in between the support pillars and it just ruins the look. I have no idea why a lot of people think this structure is a waste of pieces, I think that it helps complete the scene. Bad Cop's car is just awesome. It looks so sleek and futuristic. The hidden laser cannons fit into the side of the car nicely, and look great when they've been pulled out into "attack mode". My favorite part of the car, however, is the roof over the cabin. It just fits so nicely I can't help but love it. My only complaint about the car (other than the stickers) is it's not a 2-in-1 model. If it could turn into Bad Cop's normal car that would be awesome. So, to sum up... PROS - Great minifigures - great design - great playability CONS - Box is misleading - Railroad tracks are not built on "water" - Not a 2-in-1 - for $40, another minifigure could have been included, E.g. Vitruvius. (Cloud Cuckoo Palace is $30 and has 5 minifigures, so I think maybe LEGO could have afforded to include another one) Thanks for reading, I hope it was helpful! 30 June 2014
Best lego movie set so far! Lego are yet to release Benny's spaceship and Emmet's construction mech, but so far this is the best set. Pros: - Bad cop's car. It is just so AWESOME! (pun not intended). It has some fantastic pieces in, but unusually, I am just going to keep it on display. - Minifigs, both Emmet's and Bad cop's head rotate to reveal a different face Cons: - Bad Cop's gun. Maybe for some people, it is great as it adds playability, but personally, I don't like these new guns as they are rather bulky. A minor setback though Neutral: - The railway is a bit boring. It has some nice pieces in and is a nice addition to the set but it is rather boring to build. I highly recommend this set. Great price, great car, great minifigs. In short (almost) everything is AWESOME! 27 May 2014
