Customer reviews and ratings

Franklin DMQ-221 Electronic Express Dictionary & Thesaurus. 3.9 5 16 17
Great fathers day present I bought this for my dad as he likes his word puzzle now he's always on this when he gets a spare 5 minutes. He loves playing the word games. 30 June 2015
school use Got this for my son to use in school. His school bag is so heavy and he must take a dictionary each day. This is small and so lightweight. He says he is happy with it and hasn't complained about it. 31 March 2015
Dictionary and Thesaurus This was ordered for my elderly mother and she is delighted with it. She finds it very easy to use and has all the features she wanted on it. Her eyes aren`t very good but she finds the screen easy to read. 20 February 2015
This is an excellent dictionary and thesaurus. Very compact to use on a train, bus journey, or in a waiting room. Helps to stimulate the brain and prevent boredom. A little concerned about the lid breaking off. This is only hinged in the centre making it vulnerable to fracturing. The games menu is very good. The buttons are quite small, but acceptable considering the size of the unit. Much more convenient and comprehesive than carrying a puzzle book. 20 January 2015
pay more get more pay a little more for a Seiko equivalent ,but make sure it has the dictionary. 09 January 2015

Answer:
Hello there,

After sending your question to the manufacturer they have tried to explain:
"The DMQ-221 contains the data from the Collins Express dictionary and Franklin Thesaurus and will only find the words from these publications irrespective of their word length. So for example a 4 letter word that is not in the dictionary will not be found however it will find much longer words that are. It is therefore important when customers chooses which electronic dictionary to buy they consider which publication it is based on.
Similarly if the printed version of the dictionary defines different senses of a word this will be in the product for example the word ?House? has 6 senses defined in the DMQ-221
Sorry this is not such a straight forward explanation but I hope I have managed to make it understandable."

I hope this helps at least a little.
