Washing Machines

Energy Efficiency is rated using A through to G. A being the most efficient, G being the least efficient.

Energy efficiency - laundry appliances carry energy symbols, which give guidance on their energy efficiency and performance.

When buying an electrical appliance, choosing an energy efficient one makes sense to the pocket and the environment.

Spin speed - the higher the spin speed, the quicker water will be extracted from your wash, and the dryer your clothes will be at the end of the spin cycle, therefore reducing drying time. Spin speeds generally range from 1000-1600RPM, with 1000RPM being efficient for most washing needs.

Load size - machine load capacity is measured in kilograms, and they range from 5-8kg. Larger load capacity machines allow you to complete more washing at any one time. Therefore reducing the number of weekly washes, making them ideal for families.

Performance ratings - all machines are graded from A to G for wash performance, Energy Efficiency and spin efficiency, with A grade being the best.

Wash programmes - all machines have a number of pre-programmed wash cycles including economy wash, pre-wash, intensive wash, light load, auto half load and cold fill only. Selecting the right program to suit your wash load will help you get the most from your machine.

Look out for other programmes such as: hand wash which provides the correct washing conditions to allow you to wash your ‘hand wash only' clothes at home; woollen which provides the correct washing conditions to look after your woollens and quickwash which reduces your washing time. All of these programmes are designed to make washing easier for you.
