"Does the job, eventually| Easily gets clogged up with foliage. A couple of hooks for the collector bag would be useful!"

Blades went blunt after 2 days!

"We purchased this item and within 2 days the blades had gone blunt. the shredder is really not up to the 'challenge' as it suggests in its name!"

Not Up to the Job

"Whilst trying to shred cuttings from a privet edge.
It did reasonably well for about 30 minutes on 15mm twigs etc; but it then virtually gave up. The blades were blunt, one of them particularly bad. the twigs were not too hard but the shedder failed to cope. Foliage went through originally until blades went blunt. Could be that the blades were faulty but one was really blunt. Overall 30 minutes is not sufficient life for a product such as this. Returned to Argos"

Not Fit For Purpose

"First Challenge Shredder was found to be lacking in the wheels department. We returned it to the Scunthorpe Argos and exchanged it for another one - no hassle over the exchange, staff were polite and dealt with our problem quickly and cheerfully.
The second one was checked to ensure it did have wheels - which it did - and was duly taken to our home, assembled and tested.
Oh what a disappointment...
1. This shredder jams so frequently that it seems to spend more time being taken apart than being used. Light twigs and hedge cuttings are beyond its ability to shred.
2. The blurb for this machine claims it can handle material up to 40mm in diameter. I'd love to see it do so. Garden waste much smaller than 40mm in diameter jams the machine so much that it's quicker to cut up hedge trimmings by hand!
3. It is so noisy that ear plugs should come with it as standard.
We're taking this thing back to Argos for a full refund as it's not fit for purpose. DO NOT buy one of these machines as it is incapable of shredding pretty much anything."
