Best Games of 2015
From super hero action adventures to open world role plays, the year had so much to offer.
Here are our experts' favourite games for 2015.
Asim: "A few stand head and shoulders above the rest for me: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Batman: Arkham Knight, The Witcher 3 and Bloodborne are my favourite five."
Mike: "We've been waiting a long time for a new Bethesda crafted role-playing game, but Fallout 4 was most definitely worth the wait. The sandbox is ripe for exploration, there's hundreds of interesting characters during your adventures, and there's a thousand distractions to tug you away from whatever it is you might be doing at any given moment."
Aaron: "One of my favourite games from this year was Life is Strange from DONTNOD, published by Square Enix..It contained such a compelling adventure which had my jaw on the floor a number of times. I honestly can't sing its praises enough."
Most Underrated Games of 2015
2015 also had its fair share of games that performed well without the hype. These are just some titles that caught the experts' eye.
Asim: "Until Dawn on the PS4. It's a game I'd instantly recommend to anyone old enough to play it. Imagine directing your very own teen horror movie, that's Until Dawn. Jump scares are guaranteed, but its all part of the fun."
Mike: "Assassin's Creed: Syndicate. I was expecting a much stronger response to the Victorian London setting, but the buggy release of its predecessor obviously left a sour taste in the mouths of many and had a knock-on effect."
Aaron: "The indie developer scene has a huge number of gems available on Xbox One and PlayStation 4, one of which is Rocket League on the PlayStation 4. This digital-only release totally blew up and is now played by millions on the console. Okay, so it's not overly underrated, but it became an overnight success and continues to impress."
Most Anticipated Games of 2016
The gaming landscape for 2016 is varied and exciting. From adventures in deep space to survival missions on planet Earth, there's so much to look forward to.
Asim: "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End on the PS4. I'm a huge fan of Naughty Dog and the Uncharted series, so it just makes sense I'm a tad excited about its debut on Sony's latest console. Apart from that, I'm looking forward to No Man's Sky (another PS4 game), mainly because it just looks so interesting. Space exploration in a procedurally generated universe? Count me in."
Mike: "Being a strategy fan I'm looking forward to Total War: Warhammer, Xcom 2 and Halo Wars 2 in equal measure; it could be a very good year for armchair generals. From the indie space The Banner Saga 2 is right at the top of my list, and I can't wait to see how that particular story continues."
Aaron: "I'm super excited for Hitman. The game will offer a ton of content and replay ability as players are challenged to execute different missions however they see fit. With three gigantic areas to explore at launch, players will have the full freedom to take down targets however they see fit, whether quietly from behind the shadows, or to go in all guns blazing, this freedom sounds really exciting."
