3D TV is here - May 2010
After the success of high definition televisions, 3D TV is the next revolution in TV technology. 2010 will be the year that the first full HD 3D TVs, blu-ray players & gaming consoles will become widely available.
Experience 3D picture quality with entertainment that is deeper, richer and more realistic than ever before. New 3D technology produces sharper, more realistic pictures whilst retaining original image colour and quality.
Truly immerse yourself in the on-screen action as things dive out of the screen and feel like you they're only millimetres from your nose!
A 3D TV is a TV that displays 3 dimensional visual information or creates the illusion of depth in an image.
3D technology has been around for years, but unlike old 3D, new 3D technology is:
- Much sharper
- More realistic
- Picture quality remains high
- Colour stays true (no fading)
To feel like you're part of the action all you need is a 3D ready TV, 3D glasses and a 3D Blu-ray player to enjoy all the latest 3D movie releases as they become available on Blu-ray discs.
Most of the major television brands have showcased 3D TVs which are expected to be released later this year.
3D TVs are available in larger screen sizes for that cinematic experience.

You will need 3D glasses to watch 3D TV. These 3D glasses are designed to work with the 3D TV they come with.
Although some 3D TVs may come with 3D glasses, you may want to buy extra sets so you can enjoy the experience with family and friends.

More and more 3D content is coming in the form of Blu-ray discs and TV programmes from Sky. Be a pioneer and experience the technology as it's evolving!
Sky is set to launch a 3D channel in 2010, (available through Sky+ HD)
More and more new films are now being released in 3D; these will eventually be available on 3D Blu-ray discs for you to enjoy at home on your 3D ready TV.
Sony has announced that 3D content will be available on some of their existing PlayStation 3s as well as new models (after a firmware update) later this year.
If you're worried 3D capability may impact 2D content, rest assured - it won't!
2D content will look just as good on 3D TVs as it currently does on top range HD TVs , with the capability of 3D not impacting 2D quality.
Many 3D TVs will have conversion technology built in to enable them to display a normal 2D programme or movie in 3D. This is much like the way that HD TVs can 'upscale' images that are standard definition to near high definition quality. Though this is 'processed-3D', the technology makes for some very interesting views of your current movie collection!
