How long should this take to heat up?

I've recently purchased this lamp and it's taking 3 hours from switch on to the lava actually moving. Is this normal?

1 Answer

Hi there,

I can confirm that this lava lamp will take up to an hour to heat up fully however, please note that it may take up to 3 hours if your room is below standard room temperature.

Thanks for using Argos Q&A.

replaement bulbs

why don't argos sell replacement bulbs for this product

Mr T is correct. Argos do not stock the 40w bulbs required for this lamp. 30w bulbs are no use whatsoever.

I'd only had the lamp a couple of weeks and the bulb that came with it blew.

I did manage to source some 40w bulbs and purchased five. All five blew within a couple of weeks.

The lamp requires a considerable amount of heat to warm the wax. There are no replacement bulbs capable of meeting this lamps harsh requirements.

I've had this lamp for about four months, most of the time it's been unlit. It's now where it belongs, in the bin.

This lamp is meant to relax, it does exactly the opposite.

The bulb in question is a 40W R39 and are unavailable from the Argos spare site and also from anywhere in the UK, the nearest option is a 30W but this doesn't get the wax hot enough to melt.

Once your bulb has gone the lavalamp is pretty useless. If you get the smaller one which takes a 25W R39 then you will be OK but don't bother with this one.

Its a shame really as when its working it looks great
