Fantastic quality pans so easy to clean
Excellent value lovely colour and so easy to clean
Good looking and very non stick! Fabulous!
Salter is a trusted brand name so I had no doubt at all that these pans would be everything I needed. The non stick coating is excellent and requires the minimum of oil to cook to perfection.
I can confirm that these pans cannot be used in an oven, only on a hob.

The marble effect coating on the Salter 4pc aluminium marble effect set is a PTFE based coating, which is the same chemical compound that is found in Teflon. There are some discussions about the safety of these PTFE based coatings, however they mainly revolve around the use of PFOA, another chemical compound used in the manufacture of PTFE coatings. However all the Salter Marble Effect range is PFOA free, so we are very confident in the safety of our cookware. Additionally we have all of our cookware tested in UKAS accredited labs to the European Standard 1935/2004 – Materials in Articles in Contact with Food. This ensures that any material that is going to come into contact with food is sufficiently inert to so that no substances will be transferred into food in quantities large enough to pose a danger to human health or bring about an unacceptable change in the composition of the food. As the cookware conforms to this standard, we know there is little risk of any migration of materials from the non-stick coating to food so it is safe to be used in food preparation.
Not only is the Salter Marble effect range safe, it is also superior quality to many other comparable ranges of cookware on the market. Non-stick coatings work as they form a barrier between the food and the metal surface of the pan, preventing chemical bonds being formed and stopping food from sticking. Occasionally some oil may be required as an extra layer of protection against the food sticking, this depends on the quality of the non-stick coating which is largely determined by the number of layers applied. The revolutionary Marblestone coating is triple layer, making it higher quality than other non-stick coatings available, and it is particularly effective at preventing food from sticking, meaning in most cases oil is not required at all. It is widely recommended advice that we should all cut down on the amount of oils and fats in our diet, so the coating needs little to no oil is a definite advantage for health and makes our Marblestone range a superior choice over other pans.
It is difficult to compare aluminium and cast iron cookware as they have such different material properties making them suitable for different functions. Cast iron is a premium cookware material, that has excellent heat retention making it very good for when high temperatures are required such as sautéing or flambéing meat. Cast iron is also a very hard wearing material that can last for many years. However it is a very dense material so cast iron cookware is often very heavy and the bare metal has no non-stick properties so this must be introduced through creating a protective patina by seasoning the pan with oil. The seasoning process can be quite involved and maintaining the protective patina requires more due care and attention in the washing and storage of the pan. The heat retention properties of aluminium cookware is not as good and the non-stick coatings applied are not suitable for use over a very high heat, so for certain functions cast iron is better. However aluminium pans are much lighter and are available in a much greater range of styles and colours. Additionally aluminium non-stick pans are much easier to look after as the non-stick properties make them very easy to clean and they are often dishwasher suitable. For general day to day cooking, aluminium cookware such as the Salter Marble effect range is more suitable as it has a greater range of applications.
