Not bad, not brilliant

Bear in mind this heater is thermostatically controlled, which means that is cuts out once the room reaches a certain temperature. If its constant heat you want this is not the heater for you! The heat output is not brilliant, despite being 3kW and its quite noisy. I can imagine that when it gets really cold the fact that it keeps shutting off and only coming back on once the temperature drops, could be quite annoying when you are trying to keep a room warm. Definatley not one for the old folks! Do wish I'd realised this before purchasing as I would have chosen a different one. Hope that helps you decide if you are considering buying this model!

Effective and easy to operate but loud

Really heats up a room well. We use it currently to heat up the main bedroom for 20 minutes or so before going to bed and it does a very good job, especially at the top, 3 kW setting. As easy to use as could be desired, with only four settings (Off, Cold blow, First setting and Top for full heat). Very light and easy to carry around and the cable is also of a decent length. Only drawback is that is loud when operating so probably not much use in areas where you want to watch TV or listen to the radio. Overall, though, excellent value for money.

ideal compact heater for instant warmth

An ideal heater that will warm up any room quickly and quietly. This was bought when our boiler had broken and we were without heat for over a week. Compared to other heaters it is quiet, compact and although it does cut out it only does this when it reaches the high temperature then it will automatically come back on. My only criticism is that it has a short cable length. Overall very pleased.

Is this expensive to run please

2 Answers

Thank you for your query regarding the cost of running the Dimplex DXUF30T 3kW Upright Fan Heater.

Without defining what is considered to be expensive and without knowing personal information such as your energy provider’s tariffs and so on, I cannot give accurate information regarding this. The manufacturer advises to calculate its cost in this way:

Energy input (kW) X pence per kWh = approximate running cost per hour

Costs will also be affected by the size of the space in which it is to be used and how well insulated that space is already, as well as how long it would be run for. The product does have different heat settings, which will vary this, depending on the setting it is put on. However, thermostatic controls regulate its heat and energy use, which will help minimise its overall energy use though.

Thank you for using Argos Q&A.

I haven't noticed an enormous hike in the energy bills but what I have found is it warms the room up extremely fast so you find yourself switching it off for a while anyway. I would give it a go if I were you because it is a good product and as I say you have control and the heating up is really fast as opposed to central heating which can take its time.

are they portable

our heating has broke dwn in the car and we have to go up north wud this be ideal or dose it hav o be plugged in mains.

Hi There

Yes it is mains operated and needs to be plugged in to a 230-240 volt 13amp socket.

Hope this helps
