Very good bike, traditional style, only six gears less to go wrong, stongly made , does the job and can recomend if you are looking for a practical bike with mudguards

Great all rounder for daytripping biking!

I bought this bicycle for my husband as he found his racer too 'hunched' a riding position for day trip riding. He said this is a really comfortable riding position (you are able to adjust the position of the handlebars backwards and forwards as well as up and down) and the paniers are a very useful addition for stowing all your gear for a days riding. We regularly ride around the Peak District, sometimes in the saddle for 4-6 hours, this little bike is good value for money for pottering about on.

A good basic commuter bike

This bike comes mostly assembled, but once fully assembled, it does still require some setting up of the gears and brakes (both needed considerable adjustment), and of course the seat and handlebars. The tools supplied are a joke, but you either have better ones already, or you can make do as it is only a brief task. The instructions are clear and concise. The bike itself is sturdy, and better made than some bikes I have ridden at thrice the price. It is quite heavy, but as a basic commuter bike, I find it ideal. It is basic enough for there not to be much to go wrong. The mudguards do the job, and for me, the gears cover enough of a range to do everything I need (for a basic commute) uphill, downhill, and on the flat. For the price you pay, I think this bicycle offers really good value.

I was thinking of purchasing this bike but was wondering how much assembly was required? Also what tools are required or are they included?

1 Answer

Depending on how DIY you are, the bike is easy to assemble. However, fine adjustments of brakes and gears are needed, but youtube is a good source of info on how to get it done.

I assembled it at the back of an Argos store as I thought it was sold already assembled. This to say that the tools required are in the box but if you have better spanners, screwdrivers, etc, it won't hurt.

would this bike fit a 5'4 person or would it be too big?

I have checked for you and this will depend on your inside leg measurement.

The Challenge Crusade 700C Hybrid Bike – Mens is suitable for an inside leg measurement between 26 to 32 inches.
